Lynn Brousseau's statement
November 26, 2008
If I may, I ran as a Republican and I ran because I saw things were wrong in the school system. That's why I ran. I've listened to teachers. I've listened to parents.
When it comes to loyalty and discipline, Mr. Bonner, my loyalty rests with the kids in this school and what I think is right. And only that. Yeah, I read your email. I lifted(?) it. And that's where it is. It's all about kids here.
If the teachers are happy, then the kids are happy. If the teachers are miserable, the kids are going to be miserable. I want to see everybody in this school happy. I want to see it run properly. I want to see these kids get a great education.
We've got some phenomenal teachers here that have been miserable. And there's no need of it. They're the best and I want to keep it that way.
This isn't a political thing. I mean I'll go up to the Town Hall tomorrow and say, "Fine. I won't be a Republican anymore. I'll be an Independent." If that would make you guys happy, that's what I'll do. This has nothing to do with party. This is the children and that's why I ran. I ran for the kids. Next time, I won't run as a Republican... if that's how everybody wishes. But it's got nothing to do with political parties anymore. None what so ever.
The first time I can actually say I spoke to Mr. Shapiro was at the election. Am I correct? I don't care if he's a Democrat. He's a great guy. There's some great Democrats. There's some great Republicans. Work together. Stop fighting and making this "This one's got power. This one doesn't."
This is a school. It's about kids and not politics.
